South Cleveland's Kids' Corner

We all use water in any ways that include drinking, bathing, washing, and watering our lawns, but water is a limited resource. That is why it is important that we all find ways to conserve or save water every day in every way.

Kids play an important role in making sure that every drop counts and there are things you can do to help your family save water. If everyone saves a little, we can save a lot.

Below you will find interactive links that provide valuable information on water conservation and at the same time making learning fun. Just click on an underlined word or sentence and let the fun/learning begin. You can also print off some of the attached learning activities. (See documents attached).

Major Rivers, along with his horse, Aquifer, has been visiting Texas classrooms for over 25 years. The program teaches kids where water comes from, how to protect water resources, and how to use water wisely. These activities are targeted for 3rd and 4th graders.

In the "Water for Texas" coloring and activity book, Billy the Bull, Amanda Armadillo, Sally Mander, and Grandpa Lizard guide children through fun facts about water in Texas, teach them the names of aquifers and rivers through word finds, give them information on how to conserve water at home, and apply what they have learned to create a story and draw a picture. There is even a maze and a connect-the-dots page. This entertaining 16 page booklet is targeted for ages Kindergarten through 3rd grade.
